Buyer's Guide to Selecting a Tree

Before you make your final tree selection, consider the following:

• Are you looking for shade? Oaks are great for shading your yard and house from the hot sun.
• Are you looking for spring or fall color? Maples are great for fall color. Cherries, bradford pear, aristocrat pear and crabapples are great for spring flowers.
• Are you trying to screen an area? Cedars and pines are great for screening.
• Are you having a water problem? River birch and bald cypress are good for wet areas.
